Autarky enables independence of digital identity through a self hosted digital platform on local hardware. The word autarky is from the Greek: αὐτάρκεια, which means "self-sufficiency" (derived from αὐτο-, "self", and ἀρκέω, "to suffice"). Autarky is primarily focused on communities that embrace self-sufficiency. It's main goal is to augment and support local community life. Autarky runs on a very small computer, the size of a bankcard. It is a self hosted and self contained solution that is preferably located within the boundaries of the community. It consumes little power and could run off solar panels, making it an ideal option for remote and or temporary communities. Even without access to the internet Autarky will work locally and stay functional to the community.
